Talk to Us About Becoming LTC-PCA

Florida responds to skilled nursing facility staffing needs!

AHCA Approves the Temporary Use of Personal Care Attendant for Florida

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) has approved the temporary use of Personal Care Attendants (PCA) by skilled nursing facilities in Florida.

The goals of the program are to:

1. Provide needed staff to care for residents during the current emergency

2. Create a basic skilled worker who can continue their education and become a long term care team member as a CNA.

The PCA program is an 8 hour course. There are 5 hours of structured education and 3 hours of  simulation/competency/skill checkoff with continued on-the-job training.

The program is effective March 28 - May 1, 2020 or until AHCA extends or discontinues the program based on the needs of this crisis.

Long Term Care - Personal Care Attendant ONLINE & ONSITE

Structured Online & Onsite Course

The LTC-PCA Course is a unique and innovative experience that occurs both online and onsite. It is cost-effective and transferable. This makes the TruMont model affordable, flexible and smart.

COMPLETE THE EDUCATION CONTENT ONLINE IN ONE DAY.

Online, the LTC-PCA program is accessible any time, on all computers and smart devices/phones that have a Chrome or similar browser. The course is a collection of learning modules and competency activities for long term care.

The LTC-PCA student can complete learning assignments anywhere; they do not have to be in the facility to complete the coursework. The coursework can be completed in about 5 hours.

A TruMont Faculty Coach works with the student and the facility educator/nurse leader until the student completes their certificate. The Coach is available to teach, coach and encourage the student through emails  and Virtual Office Hours 4 times each week on both day and night shifts and on weekends.  Interactive Discussion boards provide forums for student interaction.

COMPLETE THE SKILLS CHECKOFF ONSITE.

The student completes the skill demonstration onsite with their new employer, using TruMont's LTC-PCA online real-time skills check off tool.

The student's progress on education assignments and skill checkoffs can be viewed at any time by the student and all persons involved in the learning experience. These learning tools, support maximum productivity for the new LTC-PCA and all persons supporting them.

Upon Course Completion, the student is awarded a Long Term Care - Personal Care Attendant Certificate.
